No unauthorized war, impeach now

To: Rep. Bynum, Sen. Wyden, Sen. Merkley

From: A constituent in Bend, OR

June 22

The president's unilateral decision to conduct air strikes against Iran without congressional approval is an alarming breach of the Constitution and a violation of the War Powers Resolution. Military action of this magnitude demands authorization from Congress to uphold the critical system of checks and balances enshrined in our democracy. Circumventing this process sets a dangerous precedent that undermines the foundations of our republic. I urge you to exercise your oversight authority and initiate impeachment proceedings to hold the president accountable for this reckless overreach of executive power that risks drawing our nation into an unconstitutional and catastrophic war. Reaffirm Congress's constitutionally-mandated role in matters of war and peace.
