The Supreme Court just paused a ruling that was protecting mail-in voting access for millions of people in 23 states and Washington, D.C. With absentee voting starting in some states within weeks, I need you to act now — publicly oppose Trump's executive order and push Congress to assert its constitutional authority over federal election rules before this fall's midterms. Judge Talwani's ruling was clear: the Constitution gives Congress and state legislatures the power to set federal election rules, not the president. Trump's order directing USPS to restrict ballot delivery to administration-approved lists is an executive overreach, plain and simple. Research has consistently found that noncitizen voting — the stated justification for this order — is infinitesimally rare. This isn't election integrity. It's voter suppression dressed up in official language. Trump’s insistence that USPS must interfere in the delivery of states’ mailed ballots in advance of midterm elections that will be sent to voters in just weeks is a bald attempt to sow chaos. That is not an unintended consequence. In Justice Kantanji Brown’s dissent, she notes that it is “the Government’s actual objective: to secure our imprimatur for its effort to foment chaos ahead of the November elections.” The window to stop this is closing fast. The administration's own Solicitor General admitted implementation needs to begin as early as mid-August to affect this election. Say something. Do something. Legislation is clarity.
