Constituent Request: Cosponsor S. 2837- Protect America’s Workforce Act
To: Sen. Schmitt, Sen. Hawley
From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO
February 18
I’m writing as a constituent who cares deeply about the strength, integrity, and effectiveness of our federal workforce and the services the American people rely on every day.
Across the country, federal employees carry out essential work, keeping food and medicines safe, supporting veterans, ensuring transportation safety, delivering earned benefits, and protecting our communities. When those workers are treated unfairly or stripped of basic workplace protections, the public ultimately pays the price through delays, mistakes, and diminished services.
That’s why I urge you to cosponsor and support S. 2837, the Protect America’s Workforce Act. Collective bargaining is not a special privilege, it is a tool that allows workers to raise concerns about unsafe conditions, chronic understaffing, and policies that undermine effective public service.
When those rights were taken away, it weakened accountability and harmed the ability of agencies to function efficiently and responsibly. S. 2837 restores those protections and reinstates existing labor agreements that help keep government operations stable and professional.
The House has already passed this legislation with bipartisan support. The Senate is close, but it will require leaders from both parties to step up and make clear that undermining a nonpartisan civil service is unacceptable.
Federal employees continue to show up for the public, even when the system fails to show up for them. I ask that you do the same by supporting and passing S. 2837.
Thank you for your time and for considering the voices of those who care about a strong, fair, and effective government.
