No Big Bend Wall
To: Gov. Abbott
From: A constituent in Austin, TX
February 26
The Big Bend of Texas is unique and beautiful. It is one of our last wild places in Texas. No one from the region, on either side of the political aisle, wants a wall through the National and State Parks. It would be an ecological and economical disaster. The park’s wildlife will lose access to their main source of water. River outfitters will go out of business, because who will pay to paddle down a river on the “wrong” side of a fence?
Have you been to Big Bend? Please, go soak in the hot springs; go enjoy the as-yet unmarred view of Santa Elena Canyon. Then imagine the damage that will be inflicted by a giant steel wall.
Nobody who lives there or has even visited wants this. The people making the decision at the top have never experienced Big Bend. As a Texan, it is on you to protect Texas. Please, fight this.
