Undocumented immigrants are demonized by the current administration- they claim they steal jobs, take housing and medical benefits, and don’t contribute to American society. This is utterly untrue, and the present rate of apprehension and detainment is going to derail the American way of life. It must be stopped now. Undocumented immigrants supply the United States with (a conservative estimate of) $97M yearly with their tax dollars. They are not eligible to reclaim any of these funds through tax refunds. They also cannot participate in the services those dollars provide- undocumented immigrants are ineligible for food stamps, housing, etc. Additionally, undocumented immigrants, however they may be qualified, are ineligible to take jobs in professional environments. They cannot practice medicine, law, etc. They are not moving in and becoming the CEO of CBS. They are your dishwashers, cleaning services, landscapers, cooks, servers, farm hands, etc. I think this administration has forgotten that these are the jobs no one else is lining up for- the jobs that the US government has priced average Americans out of. So what is the solution? If the US president insists on continuing this inhumane plague on innocent people, he’s going to have to *gas* tax the rich. There is no other way to fill the gap in tax dollars once the least of us is in custody. My suggestion? He can start with himself.
