Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that El Salvador has agreed to house not only their own dangerous deportees in their jails but others. El Salvador has expressed they would accept other deportees from different countries and dangerous American citizens. This is illegal, and is grounds for sending our own citizens to be incarcerated in one of the worst prison systems in the world. Further, due to the extreme political climates, from the top of our nation’s leadership down, what they may deem as “dangerous” could easily become people who disagree with them politically. We must stop this. We cannot allow anyone to be deported to countries to be incarcerated that are not their own. We cannot allow our own citizens to be deported and incarcerated in other countries. Our state of Oregon is relying on you to represent us, and also to help defend the democracy and citizens of our nation. We need this issue, and so many others, to be addressed with urgency. It is not time to wait for the next election cycle. At the rate the extremists in charge of our country are working here in the US, we need you to do your job, and rally others to see the dangerous changes POTUS is trying to implement along with his cronies. Our country and lives of its citizens are literally at stake.
