I am writing to express my vehement opposition to the confirmation of Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence (DNI). Her track record presents significant security concerns that make her unfit for this critical role.
In 2017, Gabbard met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a dictator responsible for heinous war crimes against his own people. This meeting not only lent legitimacy to a brutal regime but also raised serious questions about her judgment and allegiances.
Furthermore, Gabbard has consistently echoed Russian propaganda, particularly regarding the conflicts in Syria and Ukraine. Her statements have often aligned with Kremlin narratives, undermining U.S. foreign policy and casting doubt on her loyalty to American interests.
Her defense of Edward Snowden, who leaked classified information and compromised national security, further exemplifies her disregard for the sanctity of our intelligence operations. During her confirmation hearing, she refused to label Snowden as a traitor, highlighting her troubling perspective on issues of national security.
Gabbard’s lack of substantial intelligence experience, coupled with her controversial foreign engagements, poses a direct threat to our nation’s security. Elevating her to the position of DNI would be a grave mistake with potentially catastrophic consequences.
I implore you to take a bold stand against this nomination. Our nation’s safety and the integrity of our intelligence community depend on leaders who are unwavering in their commitment to American values and security. Tulsi Gabbard has demonstrated, through her actions and statements, that she does not meet this standard.
Please vote NO on her confirmation and rally your colleagues to do the same. The stakes are too high to allow this appointment to proceed unchallenged.
