I am writing to urge you to sponsor urgently needed civil rights legislation. As you know, recently federal agents operating with neither identification nor body cameras have detained people without providing timely information to their legal counsel or families. In some cases, individuals have been disappeared. In a democratic society, this is wholly acceptable. The proposed “There Are No Secret Police Act of 2025” protects people’s civil liberties while ensuring that federal agents involved in immigration enforcement and detention are held accountable.
