I’m writing as your constituent to express my strong support for the Democrats’ decision to hold out for a fair and humane budget agreement.
I’m fortunate to have healthcare and enough to meet my needs, but I know that too many people in our country don’t have that same security. Programs like SNAP and Medicaid are lifelines — not luxuries — and they represent our shared commitment to making sure no one in this nation goes hungry or without care.
When people can’t afford food because of cuts to SNAP, that doesn’t just hurt families — it hurts local businesses, grocery stores, and farmers who rely on that spending too. These programs keep money circulating in our communities, supporting jobs and stability for everyone.
I’m more than willing to pay my fair share in taxes if it means people in my community don’t starve, die from preventable illnesses, or have to choose between rent and medicine. A budget should reflect our values, and compassion must be one of them.
Please continue to hold the line and insist on a budget that protects essential services and invests in people, not just profits.
Thank you for standing up for decency, fairness, and the basic well-being of every American.
