Vote no on HB754. This bill creates an invasive surveillance system targeting transgender Tennesseans seeking gender affirming care, driving up costs and pushing essential treatment out of reach. The reporting requirements go far beyond standard medical oversight. Forcing clinics to track patient locations, demographics, and provider information creates unnecessary bureaucracy that will increase administrative costs. The threat of $150,000 fines and six-month suspensions will make providers think twice about offering gender affirming care at all. Fewer providers means longer wait times and higher prices for patients already facing barriers to treatment. The provision blocking local governments from regulating certain therapies strips away community control and puts the state between parents and their healthcare decisions. That's government overreach, not parental rights. This bill solves a problem that doesn't exist while creating real harm for people trying to access medical care their doctors recommend. Tennessee should protect healthcare access for all residents, including transgender people who deserve the same right to treatment as everyone else.
