Block Approval of SpaceX and Reflect Orbital Satellite Megaconstellations Reject any approvals for SpaceX's plan to launch 1 million Starlink satellites and Reflect Orbital's proposal to beam reflected sunlight back to Earth. These projects would cause irreversible harm to wildlife, human health, and our shared night sky — and the regulatory framework to stop them is dangerously weak. Nature depends on darkness as much as it depends on light. Birds navigate by stars; flooding the sky with artificial light disrupts migration and drives fatal collisions. Bees and other pollinators are acutely sensitive to light changes, and disrupting them cascades into ecosystem collapse. Reflect Orbital's 50,000 reflective satellites would effectively blind ground-based telescopes — the American Astronomical Society has already petitioned the FCC to deny the project. SpaceX's 1 million satellites would represent more than 70 times every satellite currently in orbit. These are not minor inconveniences. They are permanent alterations to the sky every human civilization has ever looked up at. The 1967 Outer Space Treaty and the 2020 Artemis Accords impose no strict requirements on private companies, and recent rollbacks have made oversight even thinner. Use your authority to demand the FCC deny these permits and pushby for binding federal regulations on commercial satellite deployments before this window closes.
