To use the weight of that office to frame fellow citizens as enemies, and to instruct generals accordingly, is a direct threat to our democracy and to civil peace. This is not only reckless—it crosses into the territory of authoritarianism, where political opposition is recast as a military target. If left unchallenged, such statements risk normalizing the idea of the U.S. military being used against the American people. That is a line our nation must never cross.
