Protect social safety net, support working families
To: Rep. Cohen
From: A constituent in Bartlett, TN
February 26
The proposed budget plan puts vital programs like Medicaid and Social Security at risk of deep cuts that would adversely impact millions of Americans who rely on these essential services. Instead of pursuing tax breaks that overwhelmingly benefit the wealthy and large corporations, we should prioritize protecting the social safety net and investing in policies that support working families and strengthen the middle class. Cuts to Medicaid would jeopardize healthcare access for low-income individuals, children, seniors in nursing homes, and people with disabilities. Reductions to Social Security could push many retirees into poverty after a lifetime of hard work. I urge you to reconsider this approach and reject measures that disproportionately burden average citizens while favoring the affluent few.
