VOTE NO ON LYNDSEY GRAHAM RUSSIA BILL

To: Sen. Hickenlooper, Sen. Bennet

From: A constituent in Denver, CO

August 7

I am a constituent living in Denver. I understand that the Lyndsey Graham Russia sanctions Bill is coming up for a Vote today, and is cosponsored by as many as 21 Democrats, contains a provision, allowing the president to impose sanctions, as well as up to 100% tariffs not only on Russia, but also on countries doing business with Russia. Apparently many experts believe that the bill does not obligate the president to impose sanctions, but merely authorizes the right to do so, a right which he already has, and expressly allows him to impose tariffs in a manner which is not properly defined nor constrained, and could, possibly, lead to the justification for imposition of tariffs not only on designated targets ( high volume Russian trading partners), but also entire alliances ( ie the EU). Given that we already have a president who wields power that he barely has, I fear creating a legal justification for further tariffs that could be used in an unintended manner. Please vote NO on this bill until it is cleaned up!
