vote "yes" on the 'Get Foreign Money Out of U.S. Elections Act'

To: Rep. Lieu, Sen. Schiff, Sen. Padilla

From: A verified voter in Los Angeles, CA

July 24

I’m writing to encourage you to vote “yes” on the ‘Get Foreign Money Out of U.S. Elections Act,’ a bill prohibiting multinational corporations from spending money to influence our elections. Across the country, companies with significant foreign ownership, such as Amazon and Airbnb, have used their money to influence election outcomes and political agendas in their favor. The Supreme Court’s 2010 decision in Citizens United created a loophole for foreign interests to acquire stakes in U.S. corporations and then use that leverage to influence or control the corporation’s political activity, including campaign contributions, contributions to super PACs, and independent expenditures. We deserve a democracy by and for the American people, not foreign-influenced corporations. I urge you to vote "yes" on the ‘Get Foreign Money Out of U.S. Elections Act.’
