The White House Ballroom has been temporarily stopped in construction for a myriad of good reasons. First and foremost, the American people see zero value in the building of this monstrosity. We do not want it nor do we need it. Secondly, the destruction of the East wing, which was traditionally used and looked upon as “The People’s” wing does not sit well with us. Thirdly the very idea that GOP Senator Graham would hold a news conference barely a day after the fiasco at the annual White House Correspondents dinner, stating this is why we must have a safe and secure Ball Room space at the White House!?? He must be delusional. We have been a nation for well over 200 years and the WHCD has been happening since 1924! Calvin Coolidge was President. In listening to Senator Graham one would believe that there aren’t any security measures in place already at the White House. We all know that isn’t true. Nor is there a lack of physical body guards, weapons etc. One thing Senator Graham that stuck out to me is in his statement that our government’s number one priority or duty was to protect the President. No, it is not. The government’s number one priority and duty is to protect the American people and this country. We do not need nor support this over blown sham of a ball room. I strongly urge you to come to your senses now and stop this nonsense.
