Voucher programs divert essential funding away from public schools, which serve the vast majority of Texas students. By draining resources, vouchers undermine efforts to fully fund public education and improve outcomes for all children. Research shows vouchers do not consistently lead to better academic results, especially for disadvantaged students. Instead of costly, unproven voucher schemes, we should focus on making our public schools as strong as possible by providing adequate funding, investing in teachers, and expanding educational opportunities. I urge you to reject voucher proposals and prioritize supporting the neighborhood public schools that serve all Texas communities.
