Will Election Day never come?
While we all wait for the next WTF political mailer to show up in the mailbox, or to be assaulted by our TVs where every other interruption is an over-the-top screed against some real head scratchers, know that this too shall pass.
Just not soon enough.
In the meantime, we can self-soothe with any number of things. Knowing that we are not alone in our wish to just make it all go away.
We can read truisms across the world that are moving the people…
“Corruption doesn’t have a nationality. When people are struggling with the cost of living and, at the same time, see a corrupt political system serving the powerful rather than regular people, those frustrations can reinforce each other.”
Yes. Agreed. VOTE.
“I think that when we look back at his administration(s) 20 years from now, we will look at it as the most corrupt in our history and he [Trump] will be judged as the worst president we have ever had.”
Why wait 20 years? Like we haven’t already figured that out. VOTE.
And, finally, it appears that authorities have found some voter fraud.
The AP reported that right-wing activists James O’Keefe and Cam Higby were charged with voting unlawfully and stealing an identity after they gave false names to poll workers in Minnesota during the state’s primary election.
The men say they were testing the “vouching” process available in the state that enables voters who lack proof of their current address to vote in a new precinct after another voter in that precinct vouches for them.
The process is rarely used, and poll workers reported the men, who posted a video to YouTube of their attempt to vote fraudulently. O’Keefe and Higby claimed they were simply exposing the “lunacy” of the system.
But it turns out the system worked, and they are now charged with a felony.
Sure we were trying to rob the bank, but only to point out how easy it would be. Prosecutors love videos of the deed done.
I expect those two guys may find that hoping to say ‘I told you so’ isn’t too rewarding from behind bars.
We need to do better. We need to be better.
VOTE.
