Review and strengthen state legislation that protects sovereign tribal lands from federal overreach. A federal court has allowed border wall construction across 62 miles of the Tohono O'odham Nation's reservation, hiding behind eminent domain logic to justify what is, plainly, the seizure of stolen land. In today's era of mass information, pretending this history doesn't exist isn't ignorance — it's a choice. The same federal department planning to deploy "non-lethal" electric shock gloves on human beings should not be trusted to act with integrity on Indigenous land rights. The DOJ's agenda is cruel, and our state has a responsibility to reject it. The $46.6 billion border infrastructure package is already moving, with $4.5 billion in contracts awarded — our state must be prepared to identify, challenge, and refuse participation in illegal border construction projects that violate tribal sovereignty. Protection of Indigenous peoples' land, culture, and identity is a voting issue for me. The historical pattern of appropriating land to erase non-white communities doesn't become acceptable because a federal judge signs off on it. I expect you to stand on the right side of this and act with the courage that moment demands.
