Support ratifying 28th Amendment for equal laws

The proposed 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution aims to establish parity between the laws applied to elected officials and citizens. It states that Congress cannot enact laws that apply unequally to Senators, Representatives, and the general public. This amendment seeks to address the concerning disparity whereby legislators can exempt themselves from laws binding on ordinary citizens, creating an unacceptable privileged class. Instances like Congressional staffers being exempt from repaying student loans and legislators receiving full retirement pay after just one term, while military personnel get only 50% after 20 years of service, underscore the need for this reform. With 35 states already suing the federal government over unlawful burdens and only 38 required to call a Constitutional Convention, there is significant momentum behind this issue. I urge you to support ratifying the 28th Amendment to uphold the foundational democratic principle that all citizens are equal under the law. Ending the self-serving exemptions carved out by Congress is crucial to restoring faith in the integrity of our governing institutions.
