Good morning! I recently have been reading about the SAVE act, and while it does not specifically ban online voter registration, the requirement to present in person documentation is not only outdated, but it will in practice ban online voter registration. Unless we open offices in the villages, this will disenfranchise thousands of Native and Non-Native rural Alaskan residents, and it is a solution looking for a problem, as decades of searching by several organizations have found no evidence of significant voter fraud.
In addition, the requirement for your name to match your birth certificate is absurd. Even though a passport would work, millions of Americans do not have one, and their names do not match their birth certificate, since, like my wife, they took their husbands last names. In addition, a REALID will not work, and neither will a Military ID. Even though those work for many other things, those do not work for Voter ID?
Even if you think we need better voter ID laws, this bill is deeply flawed, and should not be passed without changing these issues with it. Please vote No, or urge needed amendments to the bill.
