am writing to urge immediate congressional attention to the President’s recent Truth Social posts in which he referenced bombing bridges and “ending an entire civilization.” These statements are not routine political rhetoric. They raise serious concerns about the President’s judgment, impulse control, and capacity to responsibly exercise the powers of the office. The Constitution provides a mechanism for moments when a President’s conduct suggests an inability to faithfully discharge the duties of the presidency. The 25th Amendment was designed as a safeguard to protect the nation when a President’s words or actions indicate potential instability or impaired decision-making. The President’s recent public statements fall squarely within the type of conduct that warrants formal review. Members of Congress are not being asked to interpret policy differences or partisan disputes. You are being asked to evaluate whether the Commander in Chief is demonstrating the level of restraint, clarity, and rational decision-making required to oversee the nation’s military and national security apparatus. When a President publicly entertains ideas involving catastrophic force or destruction of civilian infrastructure, it becomes a matter of constitutional responsibility, not political preference. I urge you to initiate the appropriate inquiries and consultations with the Vice President and Cabinet officials as contemplated by the 25th Amendment. The American people deserve assurance that the President is capable of making sound, lawful, and stable decisions. If he is not, then the Constitution requires action. Your oath is to the Constitution and the country. This is a moment that demands seriousness, courage, and fidelity to that oath.
