I have urgent concerns about Alligator Alcatraz. 1000s of people are being held in canvas tents, without plumbing, sanitation, or mosquito control. That’s a breeding ground for disease—mosquito-borne, bloodborne, and airborne. Mosquitoes are already swarming that area. With no sanitary waste removal, no medical care for menstruating women, no OB/GYN oversight, we’re on the edge of a serious public health disaster. Malaria. Dengue. Zika. Chikungunya. These aren’t local issues—they’re national threats. Mosquitoes don’t care who they bite and they don’t stay behind fences. Now the infection has wings—crossing state lines, riding buses, trains, flights—anywhere infected blood can go. One mosquito. One bite. One outbreak. If you don’t act, we’re looking at a preventable epidemic. This is about protecting the health of the American people—including yourself, your family, your constituents. I’m asking you to demand: – Emergency mosquito control at that facility – Medical sanitation for all detainees, including OB/GYN care – Immediate inspection and disease mitigation It’s a biohazard waiting to happen. If you don’t intervene now? The next outbreak might not start overseas. It’ll start in Florida—and spread everywhere. The CDC and DHHS have been gutted. This will be worse than the July 4th flood in Texas, and you will be just as culpable for both. It isn't too late for the following redemption: 1. Enforce Constitutional Oversight Rights: Demand unrestricted access to Alligator Alcatraz/all U.S. detention facilities. Congress has the legal authority—under Art I, Sec 8 and 5 U.S.C. § 2954—to oversee federally funded detention centers; demand full access to inspect conditions, especially when human rights and public health are at risk . You cannot give up this responsibility- honor your oath. LITIGATE- file suit under the Declaratory Judgment Act to gain unfettered access to Alligator Alcatraz/all U.S. detention facilities. Legislative oversight is not a favor—it’s a constitutional function. Denial of access to verify conditions, especially amid public health threats, is an obstruction of duty and a violation of the separation of powers. 2. Demand Emergency Medical Infrastructure: OB/GYN care, sanitary supplies,, hygiene disposal units, and mosquito control measures at Alligator Alcatraz. Detention centers holding menstruating bodies require medical-grade care. 3. Mandatory Sanitation Protocols: All detention facilities, including “temporary” sites like Alligator Alcatraz, must comply with public health standards: – Biohazardous waste disposal – Sewage containment – Routine removal of bodily fluids from surfaces – Access to proper cleaning and disinfectant supplies These aren’t luxuries. These are legal, medical, and human rights obligations.
