While I deeply respect our men and women in uniform, I do not believe that a taxpayer-funded display of military might, particularly for the benefit of a political figure, reflects the values of fiscal responsibility or national unity. Such a parade would be an unnecessary expense at a time when those funds could be far better used addressing real needs — from veterans' healthcare and mental health services to infrastructure, education, and disaster relief. Our military deserves recognition, but not in a manner that politicizes their service or diverts limited resources from pressing domestic priorities.
