As a lifelong San Diegan, a proud American, and your constituent, I am writing to demand that you publicly and unequivocally declare Donald Trump unfit and unqualified for the office of the presidency.
At his recent campaign rally in Nebraska, he openly minimized catastrophic foreign threats to American citizens, stating, "Let ’em take out Los Angeles, let ’em take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay." Equally horrifying was the immediate reaction of the crowd, who clapped and cheered at the mention of our city's destruction.
A political leader’s primary and most sacred duty is to defend the homeland and protect American lives. Casually discussing the annihilation of over 13 million residents—including the tens of thousands of active-duty service members and veterans who call San Diego home—is a profound betrayal of the oath of office. Our families are not collateral damage, and our homes are not punchlines to rile up his supporters.
I urge you to use the full power of your office to condemn these statements, hold this dangerous rhetoric accountable, and stand up for the safety and dignity of the constituents you represent.
Sincerely
