An Open Letter
To: Sen. Schmitt, Rep. Graves, Sen. Hawley
From: A constituent in Plattsburg, MO
January 20
It has been more than 30 days since the DOJ was required by federal law to make all of the Epstein Files public. According to DOJ, they have ONLY released less than 1% so far. Dec 23, 2025 was the last date anything was released. AG Pam Bondi told a federal judge in New York that the DOJ is now employing “over 500 reviewers.” She claims DOJ (3 times!) in her letter to the judge, is making “substantial progress”. So why has DOJ not released more partial productions of documents that have already been reviewed? In spring and summer of 2025, DOJ and FBI stated, “the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have conducted an exhaustive review of investigative holdings relating to Jeffrey Epstein.” According to Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel, “the FBI conducted digital searches of its databases, hard drives, and network drives, as well as physical searches of squad areas, locked cabinets, desks, closets, and other areas where responsive material may have been stored. These searches uncovered a significant amount of material, including more than 300 gigabytes of data and physical evidence.” Moreover, we were told that all of these materials were “systematically reviewed” by “teams of agents, analysts, attorneys, and privacy and civil liberties experts.” The result, we were told, was that there was “no incriminating ‘client list,’” nor any “evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties.” When Congress – YOU – voted for the disclosure law, it seemed very reasonable that 300 gigabytes of data and physical evidence already reviewed in the summer was ready to be made public, with only victim-identifying information redacted. YET, that did not happen. WHY? I want a reply to this question. Amazingly, DOJ claimed, on Christmas Eve that it had recently “uncovered over a million more documents potentially related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.” WHAT? But – DOJ and FBI said the exhaustive review was completed in Summer 2025, WTH? By New Year’s Eve, according to the Associated Press, the number of documents requiring review had ballooned to 5.2 million. Then, inexplicable, three days later, DOJ said more than 2 million documents remained unreviewed, and the they had released just 0.6% of all the materials in its possession. This has all the signs of stalling and cover-up. DOJ says they are “working around the clock,” and that the final release “may take a few more weeks.” Those weeks have now turned into a month, and we still do not have the files, not even a partial release. Bill Clinton has called for the immediate release of ALL documents with references to him. Dozens of victims have called for the release of documents with protections of their names (failed in many cases in the tiny bit of material released). If all these delays, misstatements, claims and simple incompetence have a simple explanation, what is that? The above information is partially captured from a well-known attorney who knows exactly what you and the administration has been doing. I’d like an explanation of why these files are not released and what you will do in order to compel DOJ to comply.
