Dear Governor Stein and Members of the North Carolina General Assembly,
I am writing as a concerned constituent to condemn the proposed redrawing of our state’s congressional maps. This latest attempt to gerrymander our districts is not only anti-democratic but also racially discriminatory. It is an effort to dilute the voices of Black, Brown, and working-class North Carolinians in order to secure partisan power.
North Carolina voters deserve fair maps that reflect our communities—not ones engineered to please national political figures or entrench one party’s control. These actions betray both the spirit and the letter of representative democracy. I urge you to reject this shameful manipulation of our electoral process and to commit to transparent, independent redistricting that honors the will of the people.
Our democracy depends on your courage to act with integrity, something in woefully short supply with Republicans.
