Protect Democracy in Texas

To: Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz, Rep. Van Duyne

From: A constituent in Bedford, TX

September 6, 2025

I am deeply concerned about Texas’s ongoing efforts to manipulate voting maps for partisan gain. Gerrymandering weakens democracy, dilutes minority voices, and ensures politicians choose their voters instead of voters choosing their leaders. With Trump-aligned Project 2025 threatening democratic institutions nationwide, Texas has a responsibility to uphold fair representation and reject authoritarian overreach. At the same time, the state’s reduction of polling places, particularly in urban areas, college campuses, and communities of color. It creates long lines, suppresses turnout, and denies equal access to the ballot box. Every eligible Texan should have the freedom to vote without facing unnecessary barriers. I urge you to: • Commit to transparent and fair redistricting. • End voter suppression tactics, including the closure and reduction of polling locations. • Expand voting access by increasing polling sites, supporting mail-in and early voting, and protecting the sacred right to vote for all Texans. Democracy only works when every voice is heard. Please act now to ensure Texas elections are free, fair, and accessible to all.
