protecting new yorkers’ rights under president trump
To: Gov. Hochul
From: A constituent in South Setauket, NY
November 18
i’m writing to urge you to commit to protecting new yorkers’ rights during the next trump administration. a governor should stand firm in what their constituents are entitled to according to their state’s constitution; i’m disappointed to see your statements on the subject have been weak and middle of the road at best. new yorkers deserve to have a choice in what happens to their bodies, and shouldn’t run the risk of injury or harm if pregnancy is unsafe. immigrants who obey the law shouldn’t have to fear deportation. our children’s education should remain free, appropriate, and equal regardless of disability or modification to how they learn. educators should not have to fear for their jobs and income. all new yorkers should have access to healthcare irrespective to their socioeconomic status, and public health should remain a high priority. an unhinged figure such as trump cannot just disregard the law in our state and the rights afforded to all americans in our constitution. as the leader of new york state, please ensure our safety, freedom, and basic human rights will not be compromised or disregarded.
