Protect Election Integrity — Reject Trump's Emergency Power Grab

To: Sen. Plumb, Sen. Curtis, Rep. Maloy, Pres. Trump, Gov. Cox, Rep. Dailey-Provost, Sen. Lee

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

August 16

Block the SAVE Act and make clear you will not stand by while Trump openly floats declaring a national emergency to seize control of our elections. When asked about it on camera, Trump said "stranger things have happened" — that's not a deflection, that's a signal. Election law expert Rick Hasen has been explicit: this kind of threat is designed to delegitimize elections even if the scheme ultimately fails. The Senate just went on recess without passing the voter suppression legislation Trump demanded, and he's already threatening retaliation. That pressure will only grow. Your constituents are watching to see whether their representatives will hold the line or fold. No president should have the power to dictate how, when, or whether Americans vote — and no emergency declaration changes that. Stand firm, reject the SAVE Act, and use every tool available to defend free and fair elections.
