I am a voting constituent writing to urge your support for the No Getting Rich in Congress Act, recently introduced by Representative Haley Stevens and her colleagues. With public approval of Congress at historic lows, it is clear that the American people are losing faith in our democratic institutions. Congress has not been following your constitutional role to support and protect voters, but instead has been attacking and controlling your own people, to get handouts from wealthy people. You are corrupt. The primary driver of this disillusionment is the reality that elected officials are using their positions of power for personal financial gain rather than the public good. It is time to draw a clear line between public service and private profit. The No Getting Rich in Congress Act offers a comprehensive solution to these ethical challenges by: Banning Stock Trading: It prohibits the President, Vice President, Members of Congress, and their families from buying or selling individual stocks, futures, commodities, and cryptocurrency. This ensures that those with access to non-public, market-moving information cannot profit from it. Restricting Corporate Board Service: The act bars Members and their spouses from serving on corporate boards, eliminating direct conflicts of interest with the private sector. Closing Lobbying Loopholes: It permanently bans former officials from lobbying for foreign adversaries and requires spouses of senior officials to register and report any efforts to influence government decisions. Strengthening Ethics Rules: By extending gift, travel, and reimbursement restrictions to spouses and dependents, the bill prevents "backdoor deals" that have long undermined government integrity. Public service is a privilege, not a business opportunity. Supporting this legislation is a necessary step toward restoring the trust of your constituents and ensuring that Washington works for the people, not for the portfolios of those in power. Passing this clearly blocks corruption and ensures that people fulfill this role for its constitutional purpose and do their job correctly. This ensures oversight to stop you from filling your wallets with corruption. This ensures you can no longer turn on your people. Anyone who does not pass this, is admitting to corruption and admitting guilt. You either understand this is the only acceptable path, or you are corrupt and amoral and unfit for this job. Pass this bill or your constituents will abolish the electoral college. Restore voters faith in you or lose your job. I expect to see your name among its supporters.
