I am writing to respectfully urge you to vote “yes” on H.R. 5981/S. 864, the Whole Health for Veterans Act, as well as the VA Billing Accountability Act (H.R. 5981). Both pieces of legislation represent meaningful and necessary steps toward ensuring that veterans receive affordable, transparent, and equitable access to the care they have earned through their service.
The Whole Health for Veterans Act would reduce or eliminate copays for specific wellness programs, helping veterans access preventative and supportive services without the burden of additional financial strain. The VA Billing Accountability Act strengthens oversight and transparency in billing practices, limiting debt related to care and ensuring veterans clearly understand their financial responsibilities.
As a Social Worker in the State of Ohio, I work closely with individuals and families who struggle to navigate complex systems while living on limited incomes. Many veterans face similar challenges. Even modest copays can create significant barriers to care, forcing difficult choices between healthcare and other basic needs. Affordable access to care is not a luxury—it is a fundamental obligation we owe to those who have served our country.
Veterans in the United States have a right to comprehensive healthcare that is both affordable and transparent. Lower copays and clearer billing practices would reduce unnecessary financial hardship and promote trust in the systems designed to support them.
I respectfully ask that you stand with veterans and vote in favor of these important measures. Your support would send a clear message that we honor not only their service, but also our responsibility to safeguard their wellbeing.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
