I am writing to demand your immediate action to secure the release of American citizen Carsie Blanton, who has been illegally intercepted in international waters by the Israeli military and is currently being held in Israeli detention. Ms. Blanton was a participant in the Global Sumud Flotilla, a nonviolent humanitarian aid mission carrying medical and relief supplies intended for civilians in Gaza. This interception constitutes a grave violation of international law and an assault on the rights of peaceful humanitarian workers. The U.S. government must immediately call for the safe and unconditional release of Ms. Blanton and all flotilla participants, and demand accountability for Israel’s unlawful seizure of a civilian aid vessel in international waters. Please issue a public statement condemning this act, urge the State Department to intervene without delay, and ensure that Carsie Blanton and all detained participants are returned safely home.
