Block any taxpayer-funded payouts to January 6th rioters. Sandra Weyer, one of the defendants convicted for her role in the Capitol riot, has filed a 23-page federal civil lawsuit claiming her prosecution caused her "severe physical, emotional, reputational and economic injury." She wants punitive and compensatory damages — paid by taxpayers. This is on top of the $1.776 billion slush fund already being pushed to benefit rioters.
What's buried on page 17 of Weyer's lawsuit could open the door for hundreds of other January 6th defendants to file similar claims and pocket millions in public money. People who attacked the Capitol should not be rewarded with government checks. Take action now to close this legal loophole and ensure not a single taxpayer dollar goes to compensate those who participated in the January 6th attack.
