An Open Letter

To: Rep. Yakym, Sen. Young, Sen. Banks

From: A verified voter in South Bend, IN

April 24

I am writing as a concerned constituent to express my strong opposition to any proposed efforts to break up or undermine the programs authorized under the Older Americans Act (OAA). These programs are essential to the well-being, dignity, and independence of millions of older adults across the country. For decades, OAA programs have provided critical services such as home-delivered meals, in-home assistance, caregiver support, transportation, and protections against elder abuse. These services help ensure that older adults can age in place with the support they need, often at a much lower cost to taxpayers than institutional care. Any effort to fragment or reduce the effectiveness of these programs would have devastating consequences for seniors and their families. Now more than ever, as our aging population continues to grow, we should be strengthening—not dismantling—these essential services. I urge you to stand firmly in defense of the Older Americans Act and oppose any proposals that would weaken its framework or reduce funding for its programs. I respectfully ask that you advocate for robust support and protections for older adults, ensuring that their needs remain a national priority. I would thank you in advance for your attention to this matter but I don't believe there is one vertebrae among the three of you combined. You all are afraid of standing up for what is constitutional because of some rogue cult and the fear you might be primaries and lose connection to the public tit you live off of.
