Remove Mike Johnson from the Speakership: he has lied & urged violence

To: Rep. Golden

From: A verified voter in Lewiston, ME

June 13

Please remove Mike Johnson from the Speakeship. Johnson has called for extra judicial violence to be used against an elected official. Remember: "Um, that's not my lane. I'm not gonna give you legal analysis on whether Gavin Newsom should be arrested. But he ought to be tar and feathered." Ought to be tar and feathered? That is unambiguous incitement to illegal violence. Against a fellow elected public servant. Johnson has now also blatantly lied about the assault on Senator Padilla: "House speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) suggested that Padilla had charged Noem—the videos show no such thing—and suggested the Senate should censure Padilla for “wildly inappropriate” behavior." Lies bring Congress into disrepute. An elected member who urges extra judicial violence against anyone --let alone a fellow member of Congress --should be investigated, censured and removed from all positions of responsibility. Mike Johnson is unfit to remain as speaker: please introduce a privileged resolution to remove from that chair.
