Block the SAVE Act — Keep It Off the Continuing Resolution

To: Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted, Rep. Beatty

From: A constituent in Blacklick, OH

July 23

Vote no on any continuing resolution that includes the SAVE Act. Attaching a controversial voter registration mandate to a must-pass funding bill is a cynical move that holds government operations hostage to a policy that can't pass on its own merits. The September 30 deadline is not an opportunity to sneak through legislation that failed to clear the Senate filibuster threshold. Noncitizen voting is already illegal under federal law. The SAVE Act doesn't close a real gap — it creates new ones, blocking eligible American citizens from registering simply because they lack a passport or specific REAL ID documents. Millions of low-income voters, elderly residents, and rural Americans don't have those documents on hand. Even Sen. Thom Tillis acknowledged the timeline is unworkable before November. This bill would cause real harm to real voters while solving a problem that existing law already addresses. Keep the continuing resolution clean.
