Consider regulation balancing public health and preserving vaping industry
To: Rep. Koch, Gov. Beshear, Sen. West
From: A constituent in Paris, KY
January 3
The new vaping law banning flavored products and restricting sales to only FDA-approved options risks driving adult consumers back to traditional tobacco products. This approach fails to curtail underage usage while jeopardizing the vaping industry that provides a harm reduction alternative for former smokers. Rather than this blanket prohibition eliminating legal businesses and safe options for adults, Kentucky should explore balanced regulatory measures focused on curbing youth access through responsible sales practices and educational initiatives. The current law threatens public health by pushing consumers to cigarettes and costs the state millions in lost business revenue.
