Investigate Yuriana Calderon's Detention, Uphold Immigrants' Rights Lawfully

To: Rep. Feenstra, Sen. Grassley, Sen. Ernst

From: A verified voter in Ames, IA

July 1

If America was truly a Christian nation, we would not torture immigrants, legal or illegal. The reported abduction of Yuriana Juliana "Juli" Pelaez Calderon, a community activist and mother, by armed individuals is an affront to Christian values of compassion and human dignity. Allegedly held against her will and denied due process, Ms. Calderon's plight exemplifies the dehumanizing treatment inflicted upon vulnerable immigrant communities. As a nation purporting Christian principles, we must reject such cruelty and embrace justice and mercy for all people. Comprehensive immigration reform reflecting these values is imperative to uphold the moral fabric of our society.
