No war with Iran

To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Van Duyne, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

June 22

I am outraged our Republican president unilaterally ordered an attack on Iran, against the advice of the Vice President, the Secretary of Defense and the director of National Intelligence. This action is blatantly unconstitutional and in violation of the United Nations Charter, the War Powers Act, and the National Security Act. In 2002, America was tricked into a war against Iraq by a Republican administration giving us false information about Iraq's weapons program. Our intelligence agencies have stated Iran does not have nuclear weapons. Will this be the start of another pointless Middle Eastern war that costs American lives? The President has a legal obligation to seek Congressional approval for war. Congress must exercise its Constitutional responsibilities immediately and get answers on what immediate threats drove these air strikes. Checks and balances only work when each branch of the government fulfils its role. Why are you, a member of Congress not acting to stop this madness? By not taking action, you are abdicating your authority to a dictator and betraying your oath to the Constitution. My wife and I urge you to fulfil your oath and stop this illegal military action before any Americans are needlessly killed. Demand to know, specifically and in detail, what threats from Iran prompted these bombings.
