An Open Letter

To: Sen. Padilla, Sen. Schiff, Rep. Lieu

From: A constituent in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA

My thoughts today are regarding Trump’s new lawsuit seeking at least $10 billion from IRS and US Treasury Department-two agencies in his branch of government. It is my understanding that individual accountability has already been imposed. So why is a sitting president pursuing extraordinary damages from the government he is supposed to be looking after and instead basically trying to take another huge amount of money from US Citizens and the country that needs it? Congress has a constitutional responsibility to provide oversight when executive power is exercised in ways that threaten ethical norms, fiscal responsibility and public trust. I urge you to seek answers and demand transparency and ensure that no president can use the government machinery for personal financial gain from the public treasury. Thanks.
