As a Californian and your constituent, I am writing to express my outrage over Secretary Kristi Noem’s rec ent treatment of our Senator, Alex Padilla. Her behavior was not just disrespectful — it was offensive, racially coded, and unbefitting of any public official in this country. Ms. Noem’s remarks toward Senator Padilla are part of a pattern: one that includes proudly killing a puppy, spreading misinformation, and chasing national attention at the expense of public service. Her attack today on Senator Padilla was a disgusting display of political theater, meant to dehumanize and divide, not to lead. It was an insult not only to Senator Padilla but to every Californian he represents. California stands for inclusion, integrity, and progress — values that Ms. Noem has repeatedly mocked and undermined. Her continued presence in public office is a threat to civil discourse and a stain on our national political landscape. Though we cannot vote her out, we can — and must — call for accountability. I urge you to continue to speak out and call for Kristi Noem’s resignation until she no longer holds office. Silence in the face of bigotry and cruelty only enables more of the same. Thank you for your continued leadership. Please stand with Californians — and with Senator Padilla — against hate and political extremism.
