TRUST Matters – And We’re Losing It Fast

I’m writing today not just about another policy misstep or erratic tweet — but about something even more foundational: trust. TRUST is the currency of leadership. Without it, no deal gets signed, no economy grows, and no nation thrives. And right now, the American people — along with our allies and trading partners — are losing trust in the one person whose steadiness matters most: the President of the United States. Just recently, we watched the market tumble again as the President announced 100% tariffs on foreign-made films — a reckless move that’s already impacting streaming services, major corporations, and consumer confidence. He claims to have “made” trade deals with 200 countries — despite there being only 195 — and yet, when pressed, we’re told those deals will be available “in a couple of weeks.” Meanwhile, countries like China say they haven’t even heard from him. King Abdullah II of Jordan backed away from an agreement to treat children from Gaza, citing fears they won’t be allowed to return — a personal promise he said he can’t trust the U.S. President to keep. This isn’t politics. This is chaos. Even McDonald’s is blaming its declining profits on public fear and economic instability. People aren’t spending because they don’t trust where we’re headed. And that’s the point: without trust, nothing works. This is not just about him anymore. It’s about you. Because every promise you make to constituents, allies, or donors is now subject to unraveling at midnight via a tweet — or worse, a delusion. We see the weirdness. The inappropriate comments. The rambling interviews. The obsession with Alcatraz and imaginary trade deals. The bizarre behavior is no longer funny. It’s dangerous. Your silence will not shield you. Your credibility is already fraying with old ladies like me, Gen Z voters, swing voters, and moderate conservatives who trusted you to offer stability. They’re not going to wait much longer. Neither are the shelves at Walmart, the factories struggling with tariffs, or the international leaders ghosting our calls. You need to act. You need to speak up. You need to remember that leadership isn’t about loyalty to one man — it’s about loyalty to the people who elected you.
