I’m writing to you as a constituent who is deeply frustrated and disappointed with how Congress has handled the recent government shutdown and the ongoing dysfunction in leadership. The American people deserve better than political paralysis and weak negotiations.
Senator Schumer’s leadership has failed to deliver the unity and resolve we need from Democrats in this moment. It’s time for new leadership that’s willing to stand together, take bold stances, and refuse to be bullied or outmaneuvered by Republicans who are willing to hold the government — and the people who depend on it — hostage for political gain.
We stood with Democrats because we believed you would fight for us — for healthcare, for working families, and for a functioning government that puts people before politics. But when the time came to hold the line, you caved. You failed to fight for healthcare protections that millions of Americans depend on.
I’m asking you directly: what are you going to do to make this right? We need to see courage and solidarity — not compromise for the sake of appearances. We need a Democratic caucus that’s united, strategic, and unafraid to take the hard stands necessary to protect ordinary Americans.
We’re watching. We’re counting on you. And we won’t forget who stood up — and who didn’t.
