Millions of Americans supported your promise to end the failed foreign policy of the Washington establishment—the same people who dragged our country into decades of endless wars and costly interventions in the Middle East. That’s why I’m alarmed by reports that attacks on Iran’s oil infrastructure are creating massive fires, toxic pollution, and the risk of long-term environmental devastation. Blowing up energy facilities and creating environmental disasters overseas does not make America stronger or safer. It risks escalating another conflict in a region where American taxpayers have already spent trillions with little to show for it. For too long, both parties in Washington listened to the same foreign policy “experts” who pushed America into war after war while ordinary Americans paid the price. Voters supported an America First approach precisely because they wanted a break from that cycle—no more endless wars, no more acting as the world’s policeman, and no more wasting American resources on destruction overseas. I do not want environmental devastation, civilian suffering, and another open-ended foreign crisis carried out in my name or funded with my tax dollars. I urge you to stay true to the promise of America First by pursuing de-escalation and refusing to let this situation spiral into another costly Middle East conflict.
