I am writing in support of Senate Bill S8729. The people of New York have a right to home inspection. This protects people from unfair and predatory practices in an already extremely expensive housing market. The average person cannot afford to gamble on whether or not there are massive structural issues, meaning that normal families have an unfair disadvantage against flippers and corporations when buying property. People have a right to know that the house they’re buying is safe and livable. Home inspections should be protected and people should not be forced to waive a basic understanding of what they’re purchasing just to be competitive.
