I’m writing to express my opposition to the nomination of Sen. Markwayne Mullin as the secretary of homeland security. Sen. Mullin has no law enforcement experience, no military experience, has not served on any relevant committees, and has no signature legislation that shows he understands the field. He’s a man out of his depth, chosen only because of his loyalty to the president. It’s time for the Senate to take back its powers and stop being a rubber stamp for the White House. This country needs qualified leaders, not political hacks. We’ve seen that with Secy. Noem. It’s time for something different.
