Reject Russell Vought's controversial OMB nomination over deregulatory agenda

To: Rep. Garamendi, Sen. Schiff, Sen. Padilla

From: A constituent in Vallejo, CA

February 3, 2025

I urge you to reject the nomination of Russell Vought as Director of the Office of Management and Budget. Multiple groups, including the Coalition for Sensible Safeguards and the Project On Government Oversight, have raised serious concerns about Vought's record and his disregard for congressional authority. They argue that he has supported extreme deregulatory efforts and has taken actions that undermine the role of Congress as a co-equal branch of government. Furthermore, his stated plans in "Project 2025" to remake how the federal government functions pose a risk to critical policy areas from reproductive health to the environment and from national security to Medicare and Medicaid. Vought's controversial views on civil service protections and his pledge to allow the president to exert more control over independent agencies are also deeply troubling. His nomination threatens to chart a reckless path that could have far-reaching negative consequences across numerous sectors. For these reasons, I respectfully request that you vote against confirming Russell Vought as OMB Director.
