X.com and CHP alerts

To: Asm. Kalra, Sen. Cortese

From: A constituent in San Jose, CA

August 9

I occasionally receive Amber Alerts, Silver Alerts, and similar on my phone in San Jose. They appear to come from the CHP. The "additional information" received with the alerts point me to a link at X.com . When I visit those links, I'm immediately presented with advertising. Setting aside the loathsome politics of X.com's owner, the California Highway Patrol and other state agencies should be using PUBLIC resources for alerts of this nature, and certainly shouldn't be promoting advertising. There are many ways a state agency could address this problem which doesn't involve walled-garden social media.
