I am writing to express my outrage over the continued corruption, abuse of power, and apparent double standards within the Trump administration. The latest report from Government Executive about senior administration officials facing unresolved Hatch Act complaints is yet another example of why Americans are losing faith in our government. According to the report, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) says the Office of Special Counsel has opened investigations into six senior administration officials, with five cases pending for more than 10 months. Meanwhile, other federal employees are facing disciplinary proceedings for alleged violations of the same law. This raises a deeply troubling question: Are our laws being enforced equally, or does political power provide protection from accountability? I condemn the conduct and leadership of Russell Vought, Scott Bessent, and an administration that continues to undermine public trust in our institutions. No administration official should be above the law. The Hatch Act must be enforced fairly, regardless of political affiliation, rank, or proximity to the president. Allegations must be investigated promptly, independently, and transparently, with appropriate consequences when violations are established. I expect you, as my elected representative, to demand answers, support meaningful congressional oversight, and hold this administration accountable. Your responsibility is not to protect a president, a political party, or powerful insiders. Your responsibility is to the Constitution, the rule of law, and the people you were elected to represent. If you expect to be reelected, it is time to start standing up for your constituents instead of remaining silent while this administration erodes the public’s trust. You can stand with the people who put you in office, or you can stand with an administration whose conduct raises increasingly serious questions about accountability and the rule of law. That choice is yours, but your constituents are watching, and your actions—or your inaction—will have consequences. I want to know what you are doing to ensure these complaints are resolved, that federal ethics laws are enforced without political favoritism, and that no public official is permitted to abuse the power of their office without consequence. This is unacceptable. The American people deserve a government that serves them, not one that operates under a different set of rules for those in power. I expect more than statements of concern. I expect action.
